What makes megawood premium?

Not the name: the material, the certifications and the fact that the manufacturer makes every profile in its own plant, to its own recipe.

GCC: German Compact Composite

A solid profile with at most 75% wood fibre and a PVC-free polymer. According to the manufacturer it is harder and heavier than hardwood, and it does not splinter.

HOLZart and HARZart

HOLZart is the classic material, with at most 75% wood fibre and a planed and brushed surface; HARZart has at least 50% wood fibre and at most 30% recycled resin (partly from wind turbine blades), with a pressed, matt-finished surface; DELTA can be laid with open joints and no fall.

Cradle to Cradle Certified®

HOLZart: Platinum, HARZart: Gold. The manufacturer runs a take-back programme for used decking (“giving back is the future”).

Fire rating and slip resistance

Cfl-s1 fire rating according to the manufacturer's data sheets (not stated for HOLZart CLASSIC), R10 to R12-C slip resistance depending on the surface; with German building approval (abZ).

Reversible: finely ribbed or grooved surface

megawood's entry-level family, the one that made the brand's name: a solid, 21 mm thick profile, finely ribbed on one side and with wide grooves on the other. Brushed surface, 8 mm joint, six lengths, so it can be cut with the least waste. It can be laid with open or closed joints.

The boards come with the manufacturer's own substructure, VARIO FIX pedestals, fixings and profiles: the manufacturer's warranty applies only when these are used. The fixings and cleaning products are shared with torroTIMBER.

Solid GCC joists in 3.6 and 4 m lengths, with a 28 × 76 mm connector. The 80 × 60 is for longer spans and concrete kerbs.

Fencing

LIMES fencing system: four fence types, one material

megawood is at least as strong in fencing as in decking: the LIMES system offers a closed panel fence (Augusta fluctus and serra), horizontal solid panels with an adjustable gap (Valeria) and a slatted fence (Ascania), all from the same solid GCC material, with their own posts and gate. The manufacturer prefabricates the Augusta sections to size, for sloping and stepped ground and for corners too, so they need no cutting on site; the Valeria panels and Ascania slats are cut to size on site.

Wave-textured 270 mm panels with wooden rails

megawood's best-known fence: seven 270 mm wide, wave-textured GCC panels per section, between two solid 40 × 112 mm rails, with stainless steel panel holders. The panel is 6 mm thick yet gives a 35 mm, sculpted surface; the section is 185 cm high and the posts are 180–190 cm apart. Fully opaque, with no gaps to see through.
